Driscoll scores twice for Jersey United

At Gothia Cup in Sweden

The Jersey United U-19 International Soccer Club finished its Gothia Cup qualifying round in Sweden with a 2-1 record because of the clutch scoring of Ketchum's Margii Driscoll on Wednesday.

Wood River High School senior Driscoll scored twice in the second half leading Jersey United to a come-from-behind 2-1 triumph over Tyreso of Sweden at Gothenburg, Swe.

She got the equalizer off a beautiful assist by Meghan Simmons of Ridgewood, N.J. at 11:09 into the second half. Then, in a thrilling finish, Driscoll found the net again on a through ball with five seconds left. Alone against the keeper, she finished in fine fashion.

Jersey United ended the qualifying round tied for first place with IFK Osby from Sweden and Kallered SK from Sweden, but the U.S. girls were knocked down into the consolation bracket because of the goal-differential tiebreaker.

They started their "B" division quest Thursday. For updated details visit the tournament site at gothiacup.com.
