RESULTS

Color Haus 9, View Point 1

Glove me tender. Color Haus played fundamentally sound softball, highlighted by a capital D. In seven innings, the Haus sent the potent Point lineup down in order three times, and twice allowed only four at-bats, limiting View Point to a season low eight knocks and one run. Coming into the contest the Point was averaging 22.8 runs per game. Credit pitcher Dan Gearhart and some fine work in the outfield for an 0-for-15 performance by the Point's 2-5 hitters. The Haus scored two in the first four in the third and three in the final two frames to lock up their biggest win of the season and take sole control of first place. Color Haus (12 hits): Bryan Burrell 2 hits (HR), 3 runs. Josh Jacobson 2 hits (2RBI double). 2 runs. M.J. Musselman 2 hits, 1 run. Dan Gearhart 2 hits (double), 1 run. Twyla Bulcher single, run. View Point (8 hits): Matt Conover 2 hits (triple/double), 1 run. Dotty Sarchett 2 singles, RBI. Jeff Sarchett 2 hits (double). Lynn Drewien single.

Casino 14, Group Six 6

Casino put 12 runs over the plate in the first four frames to outdistance Group Six from the onset. Your typical solid performance from the C-Team, but they will have to clean up the mistakes in the field (5 E's) to hang with the big boys in the post-season. Group Six plays Kennedy Mortgage next week and should notch its first win of the season. Casino (24 hits): Anthony Anderson 4 hits (HR/2 triples/double), 3 runs. Jill Morse 3 singles, 2 runs. Jerrod Bell 3 hits, 2 runs. Sarah Torres 2 hits (double), 1 run. Kristen Derrig 2 hits, 1 run. Group Six (13 hits): Nicki Calzacorta 3 singles. Jim Carlson 2 hits (triple/double), 2 runs. Geoff Gardner 2 hits (triple), 1 run. Chad Pringle 2 hits, 1 run. Karen Morrison single.

Firefighters 22, SV Associates 5 (5 innings)

The Firefighters enjoyed three big innings, a 6-run first, 9-run third, and 7-run fourth, to end the contest in five. Sun Valley might have known they were in trouble when Matt Christian led off the game with a towering home run shot. Firefighters (20 hits): Ken Edwards 4 hits (2 HR/2 doubles), 4 runs, 6 RBI. Keith Potter 3 hits (HR/double), 3 runs. Pam Rudolph 2 hits, 3 runs. Amanda C. 2 hits, 1 run. SV (8 hits): Tyler W. 2 hits (double), 1 run. Steve McCoy double, 1 run. Jessica, Carter, Karaka 1 hit, 1 run each.

Lefty's 30, Kennedy Mortgage 0 (5 innings)

Even though capital punishment is no longer allowed in schools, apparently it is still alive and well in schoolyard softball games. It's too bad that Kennedy was the home team because in the final half-inning, Lefty's let loose for 9 runs on 10 hits, including a grand slam by Bryan Speth (cycle). Lefty's (31 hits): Buffalo Rixon 5 hits (2 triples/2 doubles), 5 runs. Nicole Buchwalter 4 hits (double), 4 runs. Dave Hausmann 4 hits (2 doubles), 3 runs. Wendy Speth 3 hits, 3 runs. Kennedy (5 hits): Tyler Knos 2 hits. Jeff Heineke 2 hits. Lenny Joseph single.
