Sawtooth kickers battle the rapids

Wet and wild soccer action


Gearing up for the President's Cup tournament in Boise this weekend, several Sawtooth United soccer teams hosted the Twin Falls Rapids in Hailey Saturday.

The U-16 girls blanked Twin 4-0 on goals by Ellen Ard, Elsa Sweek, Jessie Curran and Alexa Turzian. Player of the Match was Grayson Palmer.

The U-11 girls were also winners, courtesy of a 1-0 score off the foot of Gabi Perenchio. Player of the Game was Haley Rheinschild. Playing against an older U-12 team, the U-11 girls fell 2-nil. Erin Murphy earned the MVP nod.

The SUFC U-12 girls rolled a split, winning 3-0 and falling 2-1. Twin Falls U-14 edged Sawtooth's U-13 kickers 3-2. Player of the Game Ashley Hesteness slotted both goals.

The U-12 boys beat the Rapids 5-1. Goal scorers were Charlie Evans, Tanner Farrow (Man of the Match), Juan Castro, Jake Freeman and Alejandro Garcia.

In U-13 boys' action, Sawtooth collected a 4-1 victory and played Twin to a 2-2 draw. Morgan Pike scored two goals in the tie. Hector Lopez, Brendan Freund, Austin Cruz and Danny Sundali netted goals in the win. Raul Salinas was Man of the Match.

The U-18 boys beat Twin 4-2. The U-14 boys split, winning 3-0 and losing 1-0. Colton Brehmer was MOM. Twin Falls claimed the U-16 boys' match 4-0. Top honors went to Kyler Van Dyke. The Rapids also won the U-11 game 4-0. Zack Freeman was Man of the Match.
