Rodeo circuit comes to Carey this weekend

Carey's Amanda Hill stays atop barrels

Fifth District high school cowboys and cowgirls are keeping their fingers crossed that the rains stay away this weekend when the spring circuit arrives for two rodeos at Blaine County Fairgrounds in Carey.

Rodeo performances are 7 p.m. Friday, May 13 and 6 p.m. Saturday, May 14.

Carey's Amanda Hill continued her torrid pace in barrel racing by winning both rodeos at Shoshone last weekend. She clocked 16.816 seconds Friday and 16.995 Saturday. Hill leads barrel racing with 40 points.

When all-around point leaders were tabulated, Gooding's Cady Mae Coates (136 points) maintained her girls' lead just 15 points ahead of second-place Amanda Hill (121) after six rodeos on three weekends.

Rob Webb of Wendell (103 points) stayed in first for boys and Carey's Bryan Hill (63) is fourth in the all-around ranks.
