U-12 boys go 4-0 for title in Idaho Falls

U-12 Boys win championship


Idaho Falls was the place where the U-12 boys' Sawtooth United F.C. team decided to get hot last weekend.

The local team (4-0) racked up a 14-4 scoring differential over four opponents and the U-12s swept the Idaho Falls tournament with a championship 3-2 win over the Idaho Falls Blues Sunday.

In that final match, Tanner Farrow scored twice on his way to being named Man of the Match. Alejandro Garcia added a goal.

On its way to the championship, the U-12s had a 7-1 rout of the Idaho Falls Rockets and two close wins over PVSC and Twin Falls.

Farrow, Charlie Evans and Chris Delacruz each scored three goals for the U-12s and Alejandro Garcia added two goals and was MOM in the tournament opener.

Another top team for Sawtooth this weekend was the U-13 boys (2-1-1). They lost a tough championship game 2-0 to the Utah Aftershocks. Tanner Flanigan (4 goals) was a standout by scoring twice against both the Pumas and Ballistic.

Sawtooth F.C. results:

U-11 girls (1-2): In a 2-0 shutout over Twin Falls, Kaitana Martinez and Gabrielle Perenchio scored girls as Nicole Roos was named MOM. Other MOMs: Alison Gasenica, Sloan Storey and Martinez.

U-12 girls (2-1): Sawtooth beat the Idaho Falls Dragons 3-1; goals by Kelsey Brennan, Tanner Dredge, and Freya Dickey, who was also named MOM. Also a shootout win over Twin Falls after a 1-1 draw. Madison Gove got the nod as MOM. Other MOMs: Taylor Gove and Dickey.

U-13 girls (0-3): Lydia Gorham was named MOM in all three games this past weekend.

U-14 girls (0-3): Samantha Johnson scored in a 2-1 loss to Missoula and was named MOM in a 2-1 loss to PVSC Intrepid. Aimee Evans extended her scoring streak with a goal over Intrepid.

U-16 girls (1-2-1): Elsa Sweek scored the game winner and lone goal over Twin Falls. Cody Curran scored in a 1-1 tie with Idaho Falls Odyssey. MOMs: Kallie Skahill, Katie Leo and Jessie Curran.

U-18 girls (0-2-1): Cassidy Doucette scored the girls' lone goal in a 1-1 tie with Idaho Falls Extreme.

U-11 boys (1-2): Cassidy Carson scored the game winner in a 1-0 win over Twin Falls and Raleigh Grossbaum was named MOM. Other goals were by Connor Farrow and Alex Sloan. Other MOM: Cassidy Carson.

U-12 boys (4-0): Charlie Evans (2), Chris Delacruz, Brandon Barry, Jake Freeman, Alejandro Garcia and Tanner Farrow scored in the 7-0 rout of the IF Rockets. Delacruz and Evans also scored in the 2-1 win over PVSC. Delacruz and Harlan Collins tallied in the 2-1 victory over Twin Falls. Farrow scored twice and Garcia once in the 3-2 championship win over the Blues. MOMs: Garcia, Anthony Martin, Evans and Farrow.

U-13 boys (2-1-1): It was a hard-fought tournament to earn second place. In addition to Tanner Flanigan's potent offense, Danny Sundali, Hector Lopez, Morgan Pike, Chance McCroskey and Austin Cruz. MOMs: Sundali, Flanigan, Pike and Nick Crosby.

U-14 boys (1-2): MOM Austin Grill, Alex Conn, and Austin Moses each scored in the team's 3-1 win over the Pocatello Spiders.

U-16 boys (0-2-1): Caleb Soneland scored in a 1-1 draw with Arsenal as Barrett Cincotta and Colin Almquist were named Men of the Match in the draw. Erwin Roman scored a goal.

U-18 boys (1-2): A 3-0 win over Ballistic.
