Wood River Middle School track and field athletes had an excellent day Tuesday when they hosted a three-team conference meet—their only home meet of the spring—on the Chuck Turner track in Hailey.

The Wood River eighth-grade boys (54.5 points) won the team event by six points over Jerome, and the Hailey seventh-grade girls (67.25 points) captured their team race by 10.5 points over Jerome.

About the eighth-grade boys' performance, coach Jim King said, "It was a good team effort. We got points in every event except one, and had competitors in each event.

"It was same for the seventh-grade girls—a great team effort. They didn't win many events, but they really racked up points in their second, third and fourth places."

Some middle school athletes will travel to Boise's Bronco Stadium for the Outback Invitational meet Saturday, April 29, then their final conference championships are Tuesday, May 3 at East Minico in Rupert.
