Wendell senior Jaynie Goodbody, bound for Stanford University, was the marquee performer of Wednesday's Bob Shay Memorial track and field meet in Hailey. Goodbody (100-meter dash, 200m, shotput, high jump) won all four of her events.

Goodbody's 40 individual points were a big part of Wendell's 64, but three girls' teams had more. Valley of Hazelton won the girls' meet with 156 points, Gooding had 125 and host Wood River High School snuck into third place with 96 points.

Leading the way for the Wolverines of coaches J.C. Nemecek and Jeannie Bradshaw during Wednesday's eight-school meet at Phil Homer Field were senior distance runner Rachael Richards and senior field performer Syringa Stark.

Richards (26 individual points) won the 1600-meter run in a thrilling photo-finish over Valley's Lisa Romer, and Richards settled for second behind Romer in the 3200m and 1600m runs. Stark (28 points) placed second in shotput, triple jump and long jump and fourth in discus.

In the boys' meet, Gooding (195 points) ran away with the team title—winning the two long relays, all three distance runs, two sprints and the pole vault. Wendell (81) was second and Wood River (39) fifth.

Carl Browning of Wood River captured the 200m dash and Corbin Miniard won the shotput.
