Golf courses are opening

Sun Valley debuts nine Saturday

Wood River Valley golf courses are opening up for the 2005 season.

The Sun Valley Resort Golf Course announced plans to open Saturday, April 30. Nine holes will be open for play through Friday, May 6 for $39 for nine holes, or $58 for 18—cart included in the prices.

Sun Valley's driving range will be open daily starting April 30 and clinics and lessons will be available. The full 18 holes will open Saturday, May 7. Call 622-2251 for tee times.

The valley's other 18-hole championship course—Elkhorn Golf Club—is planning to re-open after extensive renovations by July 1, head pro Shane Galles said Tuesday.

Galles said Elkhorn's new clubhouse will open at the same time, at a new location near the Elkhorn pool. The course will play to 7,200 yards from the black tees, to par 72.

There will be limited public play at Elkhorn, after 2 p.m. only seven days a week, for $140 plus tax including cart, Galles added.

Bigwood Golf Course north of Ketchum is now open and the Men's League Opener was held Friday, April 22. The public is welcome. Season passes are on sale. Call 726-4024.

Warm Springs Golf Course is advertising its "best prices ever," on the Ketchum nine-hole course, which is due to open in the middle of May. Discounted season passes are on sale now. Call 726-2609 or 726-3715 to get more details.

The Valley Club private golf course opened play April 16.
