United we stand

Lady Panthers win Northside Conference track meet


An all out team effort pushed Carey's Lady Panthers to a first place finish at a Northside Conference track meet at ISDB in Gooding Thursday.

Carey amassed 117.5 points, without a single individual winner on the squad. Panther quartets did claim three out of the four relays, however, and pulled down points for five second place finishes.

Junior Brenna Silva was runner-up in both the 400m run and 100m hurdles. Whitney Peck placed second in the discus with a toss of 76-9, and Bonnie McAfee was second to Camas County's Beth McLam in the 300m hurdles by 2/100ths of a second.

In the team standings, the Lady Panthers outdistanced runner-up Butte County (81 points) by 36.5 points. Shoshone finished third with 78 points. .

Camas County won the 11-team boys' meet with 111 points. Butte County was second with 85 points and Carey third with 79.5.

Sophomore Brad Hunt sprinted to second in the 400m race in 58.7 seconds. Teammate D.J. Simpson, a promising freshman, was third in 58.8.

Another sophomore, Allen Peck, was third in the 800 and 3200 meter runs, and freshman Tyler Parke finished third in the high jump, clearing 5-6.

Carey will host the next Northside Conference tilt at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 21.

First place—Girls' medley relay (Amanda Hill, Whitney Peck, Lacey Peterson, Brenna Silva) in 2:05.6, girls' 4x200 relay (Hill, Peterson, Peck, Silva) in 2:01.9, girls' 4x400 relay (Bonnie McAfee, Whitney Peck, Melissa Peck, Serene Bingham) in 4:47.7.

Second place—Whitney Peck discus (76-9), Brenna Silva 400m (1:08.6) and 100m hurdles (19.2), Bonnie McAfee 300m hurdles (55.2), girls' 4x100 relay (Cassie Weaver, Amanda Hill, Brooke McAfee, Lacey Peterson) in 58.8, boys' 4x400 relay (James Carlson, Allen Peck, Tadd Green, Brad Hunt) in 4:07.2 and boys' 4x100 relay (Cody Bingham, Connor Rivera, Tyler Cook, Nathan Foster) in 49.9, Brad Hunt 400m (58.7).

Third place—Serene Bingham triple jump (29-6) and 300m hurdles (57.5), Bonnie McAfee 100m hurdles (19.7), boys' medley relay (Cody Baird, Nathan Foster, Tadd Green, Allen Peck) in 4:09.5, Tyler Parke high jump (5-6), boys' 4x200 relay (Scott Ellsworth, Connor Rivera, Tadd Green, Brad Hunt) in 1:50.5, Allen Peck 800m (2:23.1) and 3200m (11:04), DJ Simpson 400m (58.8).

Fourth place—Melissa Peck 3200m (14:42), Cassie Weaver 100m hurdles (20.3) and 300m hurdles (1:02.2), Kade Peterson 800m (2:30.5), Blake Whitby 3200m (11:18).

Fifth place—Allison Shaffer high jump (4-2) and 1600m (7:04.6), Jennifer Cenarrusa 100m hurdles (20.9), D.J. Simpson 1600m (5:30.5), Cody Baird long jump (17-4), Scott Ellsworth 400m (60.0).

Sixth place—Allison Shaffer 800m (2:57.7), Jennifer Cenarrusa 300m hurdles (1:07.4), Kade Peterson 1600m (5:35), Tyler Wilde triple jump (34-2), Luke Harmon 110m hurdles (24.3).
