Hailey tennis team ties Burley

With nine meets and one tournament between now and the Great Basin District 4A tournament, the Wood River tennis team got back in the swing of things with a home meet against Burley Tuesday.

Hampered by a pair of forfeits, Wood River (2-0-2) played the Bobcats to a 6-6 draw.

"The kids did well," coach John Radford said. "We're just looking forward to getting ourselves really sharp for the end of the year and competing well at districts."

Several Wolverines are playing well enough to sport undefeated records.

Bolstered by wins against their Burley counterparts, Hadley DeBree, Anna Chrysilopoulos, Kira Gardner, and Thomas Phelan are all undefeated in singles play, and the Wood River girls' doubles platoons of Abby Fairman, Jackie Safran, Whitney DeBree, Lauren Rust and Kira Gardner have yet to be beaten this season.

Also posting a win against Burley was Gavin Kastner in #2 boys' singles.

In the middle of a four-game home stand, Wood River hosted Jerome on Thursday and entertains The Community School on Thursday, April 14.
