Woodside school bids awarded

The new Woodside Elementary School project will cost the Blaine County School District nearly $10 million. The Blaine County School District School Board gathered at a special meeting Tuesday, March 15, to award bids for the project.

In total, the district awarded 24 bids for the construction of the elementary school and the teacher housing project located east of Woodside Boulevard. The school board approved all of the bids as they were submitted, bringing the total cost of construction to $9,710,137.79. The price tag includes all construction and earthwork for both projects.

The Board approved Kreizenbeck Constructors of Boise to manage construction of the project prior to the recent bid process. The board's decision came in December 2000, concurrent with the board's selection of the company to manage the construction of Wood River High School.

During the recent bid process, the board also approved the addition of four classrooms.

"Instead of doing it a year from now and having it cost double, we thought we should do it now," Cathy Zaccardi, Blaine County School Board clerk, commented.

According to Zaccardi, construction is slated to begin in early April.
