In bowling, Power women are team champs

City tourney in Bellevue


The Wood River Women's Bowling Association crowned Power Engineers as its 2005 team city tournament champion, as the two-day meet ended Sunday in Bellevue.

Power Engineers (3199 handicap pins) emerged 94 pins ahead of second-place Bradley Construction in the six-team field. On the winning Power Engineers team were Deena Seig, Nancy Urbany, Betty Urbany, Mickey Dalin and Linda Uberuaga.

The second-place Bradley Construction squad featured Kelly Cole, Joann Shelter, Beth Callister, Vicky Saul and Laurie Wolfley.

In the singles handicap competition for 36 bowlers, Rachel Eastop drove away with the big prize as she scored 692 pins—nipping second-place Debbie Castle (684) and third-place Erin Dick (677). This is Eastop's first year of competitive bowling.

Sherri Vollmer and Real Weatherly captured the 18-squad doubles division (1278) by a single pin over Nancy Urbany and Lisa Bailet (1277).

All-events winner in Division #1 was Debbie Castle 1913 handicap and 1574 scratch. All-events titles in Division #2 went to Ramona Castle 1377 scratch, Mickey Dalin 1920 handicap.

Laurie Wolfley had a good weekend, bowling four 200-games at the weekend tourney. She rolled games of 221, 219, 207 and 201. Others with 200 games were Vicky Saul 222, Debbie Castle 204, Vicky Raichart 203, Kelly Cole 203, Tina Murphy 201 and Teresa Anderson 201.
