Ski Town women skate this weekend

10-team women's hockey tournament

Ten fine women's ice hockey teams will square off this weekend in the ninth annual Ski Town Classic tournament at Sun Valley Skating Center.

Host teams are the Sun Valley Sunsets in the four-team "A" Flight and the Sun Valley Fury in the six-team "B" Flight.

Nineteen games are planned over three days, starting Friday, March 4 when the Fury skates against the Boise Hericanes at 5:10 p.m. and the Sunsets face off against the Provo (Utah) Blades at 10 p.m.

There is no admission charge, and spectators are welcome to watch the hockey.

In the "A" Flight are the Sunsets, Blades, Boise Phillies and Jackson Hole Teton Passers. In the "B" Flight are the Fury, Hericanes, Jackson Hole Chuters and Jackson Hole Venom, University of Montana and Wasatch Wings from Utah.

Here is the local schedule for Saturday, March 5: At 9:40 a.m., Sunsets vs. Boise Phillies; at 10:50 a.m., Fury vs. University of Montana; at 5:10 p.m., Sunsets vs. Teton Passers; and at 10 p.m., Fury vs. Wasatch Wings.

Consolation games for each flight begin at 9:40 a.m. Sunday and the championship games start at 12 noon and 1:10 p.m.

Last year, the Red Mountain Rippers from Canada won the "A" Flight and the Redwood City Lady Polars captured their "B" Flight over the Fury.
