Suns add four games with McCall

Oregon sextet visits this weekend

By JEFF CORDES

There is good news for the Sun Valley Suns men's hockey team this week.

They've added four games, home-and-home series, with the McCall Mountaineers to replace five games lost because of various reasons in February.

McCall visits Sun Valley April 1-2, but first the Suns will drive five hours back to McCall for a weekend twinbill.

Sun Valley will travel to the defending USA Hockey 30-and-over national champions McCall Mountaineers on Friday and Saturday, March 11-12.

Game times are 7 p.m. Tickets for the Manchester Ice and Event Centre games are $8 adults, $5 kids 12-and-under.

The Suns divided four games with McCall earlier this season. Sun Valley will entertain McCall April 1-2 in the final games of the 21-game season.

More immediately, the Suns (9-2) resume action Friday and Saturday, March 4-5 with two home contests against first-time opponent the Siskiyou Summits from Oregon. Opening faceoffs are at 7 p.m.

With the exception of captain John Stevens (knee injury), the Suns will have their full roster and will welcome back wing Chris King, who has been attending dental school in New England. John Miller is expected to come out of retirement, and new father Frank Salvoni may or may not skate.

Saturday's game benefits "Girls on the Run," with all ticket proceeds going to the young organization.

The local skaters pack their bags for Jackson Hole, Wyo. and their annual grudge match against the Moose March 18-19 at Snow King Center. Then the Suns host the Minnesota All-Stars March 25-26 on resort ice.
