Aspen, Colorado will be buzzing with the Winter X Games, Jan.29-Feb.1.
Around 230 athletes, including three from Ketchum, will compete in annual event. Ketchum skiers Reggie and Zach Crist and snowboarder Graham Watanabe will vie for X Games honors.
Reggie will be competing in the X Games for the fifth time. He has won three Skier X medals (gold, silver and bronze) and a gold medal in UltraCross.
Zach won the gold medal in SkierCross in 2001.
A fusion of motorcross and downhill racing, SkierCross is a fast-paced competition where competitors race against each other in heats.
The Winter X Games will air live on ESPN and ABC Sports throughout the weekend, including nightly primetime broadcasts on ESPN at 7 p.m. Complete competition and television schedules are available online at www.expn.com.
World Championships
Alpine racers from across the world will take a shot at ski immortality at the World Alpine Ski Championships in Bormio, Italy, Jan. 29-Feb.14.
450 athletes will vie for 33 medals in five disciplines: downhill, super G, giant slalom, slalom and a new team event.
19 skiers, ten men and nine women, including standouts Bode Miller, Daron Rahlves, Kirsten Clark and Lindsey Kildow will represent the United States.
