Town Series hits the slopes

Rixon, Mandeville fastest racers

Conditions could not have been better for the opening day of the 2005 Town Alpine Series.

A bluebird day on Baldy was the backdrop for the dual giant slalom held on Cozy.

The field consisted of 94 racers, but no one was faster than Carlo Rixon of the Smith Sport Optics team.

Rixon laid down the fastest two runs of the day with a top time of 24.0. Idaho Tower's Robin Sarchett was runner-up with a run of 24.2. WrapCity's Jeff Sarchett went 25.1 to finish third. Biche Rudogoz and Matt Murphy were fourth and fifth.

Sonja Mandeville of the Rainbow Warriors was the fastest woman and 13th overall in 28.0. Rounding out the top five were Piper Lloyd (18th), Erica Whittaker (23rd), Dotty Sarchett (31st) and Annie Stout (37th).

Next week's party will take place at Whiskey Jacques.
