Snowfall hammered the Jackson Hole (Wyo.) ski area Friday and Saturday, postponing for a day the competition in the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association's North Series super giant slaloms for young alpine racers from Idaho and Wyoming.
But Sun Valley and Hailey ski teamers came up with outstanding results when the action resumed Sunday with six of the eight races they held last weekend. Out of 24 podium places for finishing first, second or third, local skiers had 14 podiums.
The boys did particularly well, sweeping 10 of the 12 podiums led by Bergen Palmer—who captured both J4 super giant slaloms—and Tyler Chandler and Tristan Brown, winners of the J1-J3 events on Moran ski run.
Also on the podium were Ryan Foster, Miles Sweek and Corey Bellinger. Meanwhile, J2 racer Katie Rothgeb captured gold in one race and finished third in another. Gracie Brown came up with two SG bronzes.
