Head to Prairie Creek for a classic good time

Annual Snowmaker race on Sunday

This Sunday marks the annual running of the Elephant's Perch Snowmaker Classic cross-country race.

Staged at the Prairie Creek Trails, 14 miles north of Ketchum, the Snowmaker gets underway at 10 a.m. Signup beforehand between 9-9:45 a.m. The entry fee is $10, but if you are a SVSEF team member you may ski for free. A North Valley trail pass is required for all participants.

Course distances are 2k for kids, 7.5k (one lap) and 15k (two laps). With an interval start format, skiers will tale off every 30 seconds. This is the one race of the year that is strictly classic technique. No skating is allowed.

Since parking is very limited at the trailhead, people are asked to carpool.
