Former Wood River High School football player Jeff Bolton has been named second-team All-America offensive lineman on The Associated Press 1-AA All-America football squad announced Dec. 15.
Bolton, a 6-4, 325-pound offensive guard/tackle from Hailey, is one of two Montana State University Bobcats on the AP All-America squad, which includes first, second and third teams. The other is third-team MSU linebacker Roger Cooper.
A junior in Bozeman, Bolton is one of only three underclassmen out of 15 offensive linemen picked for the three AP All-America teams. The others are seniors. In addition, Bolton was a first-team All-Big Sky pick on the offensive line.
In team awards announced recently by Bobcat coach Mike Kramer, Bolton received the "Dennis Erickson Offensive Coaches Award," at MSU.
At Wood River High, Bolton was an All-State and All-Conference pick, and he was also the team's Most Valuable Player and Most Inspirational Player. He also excelled in basketball and baseball for Hailey before graduating in 2002.
Bolton, 21 on Dec. 31, a Florida native, is one of two children of former Hailey residents Bob and Carol Bolton, now of Florida.
