Shoshone whips up a little home cooking for Carey

Undefeated Shoshone picked up its seventh straight win at home against Carey Tuesday.

The Indians (7-0) knocked off the visiting Panthers 78-43 for their second conference win of the season.

The loss dropped Carey to an even 4-4 heading into this weekend's four-team tournament at Murtaugh.

Shoshone jumped out to a 22-6 lead in the first and went up by 13 points—38-25—at halftime. In the second half, the Indians outscored their guest 40-18.

Carey coach Hollis Pincock remarked, "We had a really great second quarter and outscored Shoshone 19-16. We closed the gap to within three points, but they came back. It was a good quarter for us, but the girls could not build on it."

Brenna Silva was Carey's top scorer with 12 points. Whitney Peck backed her up with 11. Melissa Peck and Jessica Royal scored seven points apiece. Amy Olsen, Lacey Peterson and Jessica Gomez tallied two-point games.

Leading the charge for Shoshone was Katie Strunk with 17 points. Meghan Sorenson chipped in 13.

Carey will face the other top team in the Northside Conference, Richfield, on Tuesday.
