Fidel Ruiz, 56, of Picabo was killed Saturday, Nov. 27 in a single car accident on Interstate 84 at mile marker 257 south of Rupert at abut 7:28 a.m. According to Idaho State Police, Ruiz was travelling in a 2002 Yukon with two other people, when the driver, Jose De Jesus Ruiz, 21, lost control of the vehicle on slick roads.

Police said the Yukon overturned in the median and Fidel Ruiz, who was thrown from the vehicle, was not wearing a seatbelt. Ruiz was pronounced dead at the scene by a coroner.

De Jesus Ruiz and a second passenger, Salvador Ruiz Ramos, 31, of Arco, were transported to Cassia Regional Medical Center in Burley where they were treated for minor injuries and released.

A Memorial Mass for Ruiz will be held 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Hailey. Arrangements are under the care of Wood River Chapel of Hailey.
