Gold in freestyle relay for swimmers

Wood River High School?s swim team earned a gold medal in girls? 200 freestyle relay during last weekend?s state swimming championships at the University of Idaho in Moscow.
Slicing three-and-a-half seconds off their regional qualifying time, the Wood River foursome of Anja Sundali, Natalie Hague, McKenna Collins and Amanda Harris (1:46.25) finished first by 3.01 seconds over Lake City of Coeur d?Alene.
Adding silver medals in individual events for the Wood River girls was Amanda Harris in the 50-yard freestyle event (25.05) and in the 100 freestyle (54.75). Lake City?s Sarah Shields narrowly defeated Harris in each of the events.
Those finishes, combined with a bronze medal in the 400 freestyle relay, helped the Wood River girls into fourth place of 25 schools. Post Falls prevailed with 259 points, Eagle had 218, Lake City 199, Wood River 174 and Moscow 164.
Ten Wood River swimmers had qualified for state. They were Amanda Harris, Anja Sundali, Rachel Becker, Natalie Hague, Taylor Straley, Lacey Werley, McKenna Collins, Stormy Mataya, Taryn Bryson and Ray Bryson.
