?Darlin?s Darlins,? skate with zest

At Oktoberfest in Utah

Nine members of the Sun Valley Figure Skating Club, led by coach Darlin Baker, traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah Sept. 24-25 for the annual U.S. Figure Skating Association-sanctioned Oktoberfest contest.

The victorious girls, nicknamed ?Darlin?s Darlins,? returned with nearly a dozen trophies and medals, including the prestigious ?Most Distinctive Showcase Performance Award.? Winning that award was Hemingway Elementary School student Madigan Miller.

All the athletes rounded out the competition with quality skating and model sportsmanship, Baker said.

Telar McClure, Nicole Pratt, Madigan Miller, Hannah Dies and Taylor Figge attend Hemingway Elementary School. Alexandra Harten and Devon Sherrerd go to school at The Community School elementary school. SVFSC commuting member Lauren Farr attends junior high school in Idaho Falls. Kenny Pratt, 4, is the youngest SVFSC male skater.
Individual awards for the hard-working athletes follow:

Lauren Farr?Silver medal in Intermediate Ladies short program. Nicole Pratt?First place in Pre-Preliminary Showcase with Axel and gold medal in Pre-Preliminary Artistic with Axel.

Devon Sherrerd?Second place in Pre-Preliminary Without Axel. Taylor Figge?First place in High Freeskate Showcase and gold medal in High Freeskate Artistic.

Madigan Miller?In addition to her overall showcase award, second place in Low Freeskate Showcase and bronze medal in Low Freeskate. Telar McClure?Fourth place in Low Freeskate.

Hannah Dies?Second place in Freeskate Showcase Level D and bronze medal in Freestyle Level D. Alexandra Harten?First place in Freeskate Showcase Level C and gold medal in Freestyle Level B.

Kenny Pratt?Gold medal in Freeskate Level A.
