Rain shortens Sun Valley golf

Club championship gets wet


Eagle?s Bob Wheeler and Josey Edwards of Boise came away with the Champions division titles during last weekend?s Idaho Golf Association Tournament of Champions at Sun Valley Golf Course.

Wheeler (74-72 for 146) won by a single stroke over Mark Rhoades of McCall (74-73 for 147) in the 10-player class. Edwards (72-76 for 148) was the women?s champion.

In the Senior Champions division, Ted Black of Eden (73-74 for 147) captured a playoff with a birdie on the first hole, relegating Christopher James of Challis (75-72 for 147) to second place among 30 players.

Here are results, including scores of local players in the two-day meet played Saturday and Sunday at Sun Valley. In all, there were 109 golfers:

Champion men: 1?Bob Wheeler (Eagle) 74-72 for 146. 2?Mark Rhoades (McCall) 74-73 for 147.

Club champion men: 1?Dan Pickens (Pocatello) 78-73 for 151. Others: Bob Lutz 78-77 for 155; Dave Hutchinson 77-83 for 160; and Carmen Bradley 82-78 for 160.

Senior champion men: 1?Ted Black (Eden) 73-74 for 147. 2?Christopher James (Challis) 75-72 for 147. Others: Nils Badenduck 77-76 for 153; and Dave Cropper 80-82 for 162.

Champion women: 1?Josey Edwards (Boise) 72-76 for 148.

Club champion women: 1?Kristin Fenwick (Boise) 72-75 for 147. 5?Georgia Rand Hutchinson (Ketchum) 78-82 for 160. Others: Suzanne Williams 84-78 for 162.

Senior champion women: 1?Jan Davis (Meridian) 79-85 for 164. Others: Jeanne Mace 82-90 for 172.
