Wood River rolls split at Jerome

Leah McIhenny sets the ball against Minico.

Tuesday was kind of a good news ? bad news kind of night for the Wood River volleyball team.

On one side of the coin: the Wolverines are undefeated in league play. The flip side: the Wolverines aren?t undefeated any longer.

In tri-match action at Jerome, Wood River (2-1) outlasted the host Tigers in four, winning 25-15, 25-18, 19-25, 25-23, but fell to the Century Diamondbacks 25-17, 25-20.

The outcome might have been a little different had the Wolverines known they were playing Century instead of Minico as expected.

Coach Tim Richards explained, ?It would have been nice to know we were playing Century. You like to know what you are up against. We could have made some adjustments. I don?t know what happened to Minico. A scheduling error I guess.?

On the night, Syringa Stark recorded nine kills and Rachael Richards put down eight. Leah McIllhenny and Hannah Richards led the team in assists with 13 and 12, respectively.

Wood River (2-0 league) traveled to Twin Falls yesterday and will host the Bruins and Gooding in twi-match action on Tuesday starting at 5 p.m.
