Cutthroats, Carey tackle league foes

Northside Conference volleyball is in full swing for the Blaine County prep volleyball teams.

In league action at home Tuesday, Carey scored a decisive victory over Bliss, beating the Bears in three: 25-6, 25-8, 25-10. The win marked Carey?s fifth consecutive victory.

Playing in its first home match of the season, The Community School went four games with Camas County before falling 25-14, 23-25, 25-15, 25-17.

?It was great for us,? coach Reamy Goodwin said. ?Even though we were physically outmatched our kids competed really well.?

Goodwin added outside hitter Ashley Alfs had a ?tremendous game,? and sophomore Louisa Waycott ?played the best match of her career.?

?Ashley?s service game kept us alive the whole game,? Goodwin said.

The Cutthroats (1-5) travel to Shoshone Tuesday. Carey (5-0) participates in the Hagerman Invitational this weekend and hosts Richfield on Tuesday.
