The Wood River girls? varsity soccer team is crunching numbers like a Type A accountant.

The Wolverines (4-0) racked up their fourth consecutive victory Tuesday, defeating Pocatello 3-0 on the Indians home pitch.

It was the fourth shutout for goalie Jessi Pieschl and her three fulbacks: Gina Thomas, Danielle Smith and Katie Jensen.

Junior striker Margii Driscoll added two goals to boost her season total to seven (in three games). Tara Cappell added a solo score.

?They were the best team we have played so far,? coach Greg Gvozdas remarked. ?It was a solid team effort.?

The win boosted the Wolverines to second place in the Idahosports.com power rankings behind Century. Hailey will take on the Diamondbacks in Pocatello next Thursday with the winner taking over the number one slot. Wood River meets Jerome in a league matchup on Tuesday. This weekend, Hailey hosts Preston on Saturday, Sept. 11 on the Hailey football field. Varsity kickoff is 11 a.m.
