Problems resolved, golden couple will skate twice

Canadians Jamie Salé and David Pelletier at Sun Valley

Their work visa problems apparently resolved, Olympic gold medalists Jamie Salé and David Pelletier of Canada have been signed to perform in the Sun Valley Ice Show twice, on Aug. 28 and again on Sept. 4.

Ice show producer Lana Breazeale said this week, ?We were just notified Friday that Jamie and David?s visa problems have been taken care of. And we?re happy to have them here for two shows.?

Salé, 27, and Pelletier, 29, the three-time Canadian national pairs skating champs known as the ?Golden Couple,? were signed for the show of Saturday, Aug. 28 and added for the Labor Day show because the original Sept. 4 headliner, Olympic gold medalist Brian Boitano, had knee surgery.

Enormously popular in Sun Valley because of their talent and charm, Salé and Pelletier had been due to skate in three Sun Valley shows on July 3-4 and July 10.

While traveling to Sun Valley, however, a surprised Salé and Pelle-tier were told by American immigra-tion officials at Vancouver, B.C. In-ternational Airport that they didn?t have appropriate work visas to per-form at Sun Valley.

Their delayed appearances at Sun Valley in the coming weeks highlight a dynamite final four weeks.

Current World silver medalist Sasha Cohen appears on Saturday, Aug. 21. And Olympic bronze medalist Jozef ?Jumpin? Joe? Sabovcik headlines the Sept. 11 fi-nale.

Tickets are now on sale at the Sun Valley Recreation Office, 208-622-2135. Tickets also may be purchased online at www.sunvalley.com.
