Idaho State Championships set for Soldier Mountain


Soldier Mountain is the site of the Idaho State NORBA Championship Finals this weekend.

The races, part of the Knobby Tire Series, feature a cross-country race on Saturday, August 21 and a downhill on August 22 at Soldier Mountain, 12 miles north of Fairfield. Saturday?s cross-country is a double points race in the KTS.

The course climbs 8,000 feet through pine forests and quaking aspen. The trek also features long technical descents, creek crossings and plenty of single track. Expert and pro class riders will complete a 23.7 mile course. The sport class distance is 20 miles and beginners ride 12.5 miles.

The start gate for the downhill sits at 7,200 feet. Riders will immediately reach high rates of speed as the drop three-tenths of a mile down a 23 per-cent grade.

Highlighting the 1.7 mile course is the ?No Fear? jump on which riders can catch 20 feet of air and is sure to be a crowd-pleaser

A two-run format with the best time taken will be utilized.
