An even dozen for Snake River Summer
Championships
Ninth-place finish for Sun Valley
The Snake River Swim Championships in Twin
Falls last weekend was the final long-course meet of the season for swimmers on
the local SV5B and Sun Valley Dolphins swim teams.
A highlight of the three day meet (July
23-25) were the awards handed out for academic achievement. Swimmers who had
completed ninth grade, maintained a 3.5 cumulative GPA, competed in three Snake
River meets and are members of USA Swimming were eligible for the honor.
Several SV5B team members met the
criteria, including Katie Bryson, Ray Bryson, Chloa Fuller, Amanda Harris,
Rachael Becker, and Ben Parker. Amanda Harris and Racheal McGinnis were
recognized as members of the Snake River Swimming All-Star team, and Harris also
qualified for Zones in the 50, 100 and 200 freestyle. The Zone team travels to
Redding, California next month.
In the lanes, the 16-year old Harris
stroked her way to the front in 10 events. Harris collected three gold medals
and seven silver.
Other top ten swimmers were Melissa
Becker, Sarah Brown, Katie Bryson, Ray Bryson, Sophia Carkonen, Grady Goodenough,
Racheal McGinnis, Ben Parker, Bronwen Raff, and Esther Williams.
In a field of 12 teams, Boise YMCA topped
