RESULTS
WEDNESDAY, JULY 28

View Point 16, Sawtooth Club/Roosevelt 7
It does not happen very often, but when it does it’s scary. Sawtooth pitcher Dale Byington was hit in the face with a line drive and taken to the hospital. Byington suffered broken bones in his cheek and a broken ankle. He’s is going to be okay, but the accident should spur a dialogue about how to make the game safer. Can incidents like this be prevented and how? Should players use wooden bats? Catcher’s masks on the pitcher? Is it possible to make the game safer and not take the fun out of it for the players? View Point (18 hits): Rod Watson 3 hits (2 HR/2B), 3 runs. Hoss Schmidt grand slam, 2 singles. Jay Singleton 3 hits (2 doubles), 2 runs. Matt Barrow 3 hits (IPHR/2B), 3 runs. Sue Mulcahy 2 hits (3B), 1 run. Sawtooth (13 hits): Pat McGee 3 homeruns. Ashley Miller 3 hits, 1 run. Lisa Valdama 2 hits, 1 run.

Color Haus 36, Cellar Pub 11 (4 innings)
They are eating their Wheaties, pumping their iron and swinging for the fences – and it’s all good for the Haus, who rang up win #7 by whupping the Cellar. Three players: Jeff Burrell, John Rathfon and Josh Jacobson were all 5-for-5 and the team batted around in every inning. It was a 13-9 game after one, but the Haus went on a tear after that. Color Haus (31 hits): Chris Benson 4 hits (HR/2B), 3 runs. Bonnie Burrell 3-for-3, 5 runs. Twyla Bulcher 2 hits, 4 runs. Cellar (15 hits): jake Rohe 3 hits, 2 runs. Damon Ferrari 2 hits (2B), 1 run. Amy Harris 2 hits, 1 run. Chris Worthington 2 hits, 1 run.

Lefty’s 18, Whitehead Landscaping 9
Lefty’s knows how to do two out rallies in a big way. With two down, Buffalo Rixon (4 hits/HR) kick-started a 9-run, 10-hit second to give the Sharks an insurmountable lead. Lefty’s (25 hits): Dave Hausmann 4 hits (2 doubles), 3 runs. Frank Salvoni 4 hits (HR), 2 runs. Wendy Speth 3 hits (triple/2 doubles), 2 runs. Nicole Buchwalter 3 hits, 2 runs. Whitehead (19 hits): Eric Palmer 2 hits (HR), 2 runs. Shilo Lillo 2 doubles, 1 run. Brigette Gross 2 hits (2B), 1 run. Nicola Brashears 2 hits (2B),1 run. Becky Simpson 2 hits (2B), 1 run.

Firefighters 21, East Ave. Bistro 12
KFD bounced back from two consecutive losses by busting out with 14 runs in the first three innings. A six-run sixth salted the win away. Glove me tender: the Firefighters turned a triple play in the fifth: 5-3-3-5-6. KFD (25 hits): Matt Christian 4 hits (3B/2B), 4 runs. Keith Potter 4 singles, 3 runs. Ken Edwards 3 hits (3B/2B), 2 runs. Lindsay 3 hits, 3 runs. Karly Martua 3 hits, 3 runs. East Ave. (15 hits): Jim Carlson 3 hits (IPHR/2B), 2 runs. Mike Davis 3 hits (3B/2B), 2 runs. Mary Mansfield 2 hits (2B), 1 run. Amy Wright 1 hit, 2 runs.

Casino 17, Pioneer/SV Associates 15
The closest game of the night. Neither team had more than a 2-run advantage and there were three lead changes and one tie. Knotted 15-15 in the visitor seventh, Casino’s Jerod Ball (2 hits) cracked a two-RBI triple to plate the winning runs. Sarah Torres scored the go-ahead skin and Matt Stacey the insurance run. Casino (19 hits): Dave Penn 3 hits (2B), 2 runs. Joyce Fogg 3 hits, 1 run. Gary Morse 3 hits, 1 run. Joe Reali 2 hits (HR), 2 runs. Pioneer (18 hits): John Fangella cycle. Jesse S. 4 hits (2B), 3 runs. Brian Bligh 3 hits, 2 runs. Karoka Jolma 2 hits, 2 runs.
