RESULTS

Wicked Spud/Bradley 9,
Wise Guy Pizza 9
(9 innings)
Two words: Bad carbs. How else can you explain a 9-9 tie in softball between a spud and a pizza? Laces are meant to be tied. Ribbons, kite tails and knots. You can tie one on. Tie someone's hands behind their back. Knot a tie. But a softball game? Softball games are meant to be won or lost – a tie? Dr. Atkins is rolling over. #1 Wicked Spud almost did the same. Trailing 9-7 in the visitor seventh, Spud staged a two-out rally. Laurie Wolfley (2 hits) reached on a fielder’s choice. Bryan Burrell (2 hits) and Brigette Gross roped back-to-back doubles to plate two and, what else, tie the game. Neither team could touch home in the extra stanzas and it was all over but the lying. Wise Guy (20 hits): Dan Gearhart 4-for-4 (2 doubles), 1 run. Amanda Steed 3 hits, 2 runs. Scott Seaward 3 hits, 1 run. Dana Gloor 2 hits. Wicked Spud (16 hits): Becky Simpson 3 singles. Jim Bradley 2 hits (2B), 2 runs. Jeff Burrell HR.

Anderson Asphalt 11,
Robin Tomasi/MB/Big Horn 9
Oh it’s the little things in life that can drive you crazy. Both teams swatted 18 hits, but Anderson committed no errors (really?) and left six on base, opposed to Tomasi committing one E and stranding nine. Anderson scored four runs in the first, highlighted by Kevin Garceau’s homerun. Tomasi chipped away regained the lead in the fifth. Matt Douthit socked a two-run homer for a 9-6 advantage. Anderson had a jack up its sleeve and Hoss Schmidt unleashed it in the sixth, spurring his team to a five-run frame and victory. Anderson (18 hits): Sue Mulcahy 3 hits (2 doubles), 3 runs. Wheat Uhrig 3 hits (HR/2B), 3 runs. Garceau 3 hits (HR/2B), 1 run. Robin Tomasi (18 hits): Lisa Stout 4-for-4 (2 doubles), 3 runs. Matt Douthit 2 hits (HR), 2 runs. Sammie 2 hits, 1 run. Toni Marcroft 2 singles.
