Laurent Perrier pops the top on annual tilt

Women’s soccer tournament at Atkinson Park

Second in its home tournament last season, the Laurent Perrier women’s soccer team is gunning for first place this season and the coveted magnum of eponymous champagne.

The annual tilt hits the Atkinson Park pitch this weekend. This year’s field – one of the biggest to date – features six teams, including squads from Boise, Ketchum and Logan, UT. Last year’s title was taken by Boise ABC. The capital city side beat Laurent Perrier 3-0 in the final.

Saturday’s games start at 10 a.m. with Sun Valley versus Logan City. The Boise Superstars will be the local gals’ opponent at 5 p.m.

Laurent Perrier hits the field at 8 a.m. Sunday against Milligan’s Panthers.

Stepping in for Park City, who cancelled at the last minute, Ketchum plays at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. Sunday.

Sunday’s consolation match will be played at noon and the championship will be at 2 p.m.

An all-you-can-eat and drink barbecue will be held at the picnic shack at 6 p.m. Saturday night. It is open to fans, friends and players. The cost is $5.
