Royalty named at final rodeo
2004 Miss Days of the Old West
The Sawtooth Rangers Riding Club announced
the winners of the 2004 Miss Days of the Old West royalty contest during
Sunday’s Hailey rodeo.
Crowned the 2004 Hailey Senior Queen was
Melinda Markin, 18, of Hailey.
She graduated from Wood River High School
this past June and plans to attend Albertson College in Caldwell. A member of
the National Honor Society, Melinda graduated with a 3.84 GPA.
The new Teen Queen is Kylie Freestone, 13,
of Pocatello. She is the daughter of John and Leslie England.
The 2004 Hailey Junior Queen is Alexis
Bennett, an incoming eighth grader at Middleton Middle School. She is the
daughter of Michelle Bennett of Middleton and Jeff Bennett of Meridian.
Alexis was the Miss Days of the Old West
high-point winner. She received a saddle from Sawtooth Rangers, with matching
breast collar from Wood River Equine Hospital.
This year’s contest coordinator was Janell
Ramm. Judges included Tara Rushton, Cindy Gochnour, Dalonna Stinemates and
Scharlee Roberts.
This year’s outgoing royalty included 2003
Senior Queen Shayne Krasowski of Salmon; 2003 Teen Queen Cassi Ann Rushton of
Bellevue; and 2003 Junior Queen Whitney Summers of Nampa.
