A wheel good time

Wood River Cup mountain bike racers tear up the track


The Wood River Cup Mountain Bike Series will stage its fifth and final race this Saturday, July 3 at 6:30 p.m. at Croy Creek 3.5 miles west of Hailey.

The event is the state championships for short track mountain bike racing. The cost is $11, which includes a NORBA license. Awards will be held at 9 p.m. at Wise Guy Pizza in Hailey.

On Wednesday, 49 competitors turned out for the fourth race of the series. Owing to the great action, an estimated 50 spectators dotted the course to cheer on the riders.

Pro Class winners were Greg Randolph and Georgia Gould. Also claiming class championships were Randy Berner, Dusty Heyrend, Hilary Patzer, Scott Frans, Carmen Alvarado, Corey Bellinger, Zack Lowry, Taylor Riviello, Nicol Wheeler, Josh Morell, Haley Cooper, Taylor Cooper, Eve Preucil, Cade Street and Luma Randolph.

Runner-up riders were Daryl Price, Dusty LaBarr, Jose Alvarado, Georgie Montgomery, Dusty Heyrend, Matt Preucil, Jesse White, Chris Preucil, Sam Rogers, Haley Montgomery, Eliah Pfau, Peyton McCune, and Clyde Montgomery.
