Time trialers burn trail from Timmerman

Feldman a 13-time winner

A record 44 cyclists came to challenge themselves at the Idaho State Time Trial Championships Saturday.

The out-and-back course began east of the blinking light on U.S. 20 with the turnaround for the 20k race just before Loving Creek and the turnaround for the 40k race just west of the Susie Q Ranch, in Picabo.

Wind was a factor with many of the competitors claiming that it made the championship course much harder.

Richard Feldman of Durance Cycleworks came away with the overall title in a time of 51.20 for 40 kilometers (24.8 miles. Feldman’s average speed for the course was 29.15 mph.

It was Feldman’s 13th consecutive Idaho time trial title.

Christoph Hurley was the fastest junior, riding the 20k course in 29.10. Patty Puz was the fastest Master Woman, riding 20k in 36:15.

The faster Master Man was Kris Thoreson, finishing in 57:46 for the 40k distance.
