Sawtooth Relay is coming to Ketchum
Saturday at Atkinson Park
It’s elementary.
Sawtooth Relay runners and walkers will
travel 61.9 miles from one elementary school to the other Saturday, June 19. And
they’ll see some great Sawtooth scenery along the way.
The 2004 Sawtooth Relay, open to walking
and running teams and ultra-marathoners, will begin Saturday before dawn at
Stanley Elementary School, and will end Saturday afternoon at Atkinson Park near
Hemingway Elementary School in Ketchum.
Using one van, teams of six will complete
12 legs over the course. For that privilege, the teams have paid an entry fee of
$240, or $300 if they were late in registering.
There are 137 teams entered, the majority
from the Boise area, and many have creative names like….
Short of Breath; Jamaken-Me-Run; Slower
than We Look; Are We There Yet?; Ten Buns and a Weinie; W.M.D.; Cobra Kai Johnny
and the Swampdonkey Hunters; Stiff Kitties; and Team Running Drunk.
Among the locally-based teams are
Marketron, Blaine County Title and Ketchum Grill.
After the relay, the teams will relax,
celebrate, eat, drink and enjoy live music by "Straight Up," at Atkinson Park.
At the Ketchum park, awards will be given to the first three overall teams and
the top teams in each class.
Sawtooth Relay is a non-profit corporation
benefiting charities including the Polycystic Kidney Disease Foundation and
Idaho Donor Network.
