"Fun Barrier," is reached, Albright on
top
Wild Rockies singletrack
Perfect weather helped 150 athletes break
the fabled "Fun Barrier," during Saturday’s 12th Revenge of the Singletrack at
Magic Mountain Ski Resort south of Twin Falls.
Round Four of the 2004 Wild Rockies
Mountain Bike Series featured mountain bikers covering distances from 10 to 30
miles, plus trail running and a run/bike duathlon class.
Pro Men’s mountain bike winner over 30
miles was Ketchum’s Whit Albright (Smith Sport Optics) in two hours, 51 minutes
and 52 seconds. Brother Danny Albright was fifth in the class, 3.22:59.
Ketchum’s Georgia Gould won the 30-mile
Pro Women’s race in 3.18:30. And Rob Freeman of Ketchum placed second in the
duathlon (5.5 mile run, 15.5 mile bike) in 2.43:15.
Other mountain bike class winners from the
Wood River Valley included Corey Bellinger, India Wysong, Dusty LaBarr, Kyle
Niedrich, Rich Hardy and Ed Miller.
Ron Dillon’s Wild Rockies series continues
Sunday, June 20 with the 16th annual Idaho City Excellent Adventure in Idaho
City 35 miles north of Boise. It includes a 17-mile mountain bike race and
7.5-mile trail walk or run.
