"Fun Barrier," is reached, Albright on top

Wild Rockies singletrack

Perfect weather helped 150 athletes break the fabled "Fun Barrier," during Saturday’s 12th Revenge of the Singletrack at Magic Mountain Ski Resort south of Twin Falls.

Round Four of the 2004 Wild Rockies Mountain Bike Series featured mountain bikers covering distances from 10 to 30 miles, plus trail running and a run/bike duathlon class.

Pro Men’s mountain bike winner over 30 miles was Ketchum’s Whit Albright (Smith Sport Optics) in two hours, 51 minutes and 52 seconds. Brother Danny Albright was fifth in the class, 3.22:59.

Ketchum’s Georgia Gould won the 30-mile Pro Women’s race in 3.18:30. And Rob Freeman of Ketchum placed second in the duathlon (5.5 mile run, 15.5 mile bike) in 2.43:15.

Other mountain bike class winners from the Wood River Valley included Corey Bellinger, India Wysong, Dusty LaBarr, Kyle Niedrich, Rich Hardy and Ed Miller.

Ron Dillon’s Wild Rockies series continues Sunday, June 20 with the 16th annual Idaho City Excellent Adventure in Idaho City 35 miles north of Boise. It includes a 17-mile mountain bike race and 7.5-mile trail walk or run.

Visit wildrockies.com or call Dillon at 208-587-9530.
