SVMABL hardball

Organizing is underway for the ninth season of the Sun Valley Men’s Adult Baseball League (SVMABL). The league is one of the few "all wood bat" leagues in the country.

Sponsored by Blaine County Title, the league consists of players ages 18-61. Everyone is welcome, but there’s a limit of the first 60 paid players since there are only four teams.

The 10-week season starts Friday, June 11 and continues through the "Wood River World Series," Aug. 20-21. Games are played Friday and Monday evenings, and selected Sunday afternoons.

From June 11-July 19, six games per team are played on the upper field at Ketchum’s Atkinson Park. From July 23-Aug. 21, six more games per team are played at Founders Field, Hailey—after the American Legion/Babe Ruth season ends on the big diamond.

Once again, a draft of all players from scratch will be conducted to form the four teams. Cost is $185 per player. You must be paid in full to be placed in the draft. All player and sponsor fees are due by May 26. The draft is May 27.

Returning players, bring a check and last year’s jersey to Curtis Bacca (726-7595) at Sun Valley Brokers, 680 Sun Valley Rd. in Ketchum.
