Climbing Galena, on a bike

Hill climb draws 34 cyclists

Ketchum’s Richard Feldman clocked a new course record (21 minutes, 28 seconds) Saturday in the fourth annual Galena Hill Climb for bicyclists.

The hill climb kicked off the 2004 Durance Cycleworks time trial series. The 5.8-mile course rose 1,701 feet from Galena Lodge to the summit.

Youngest racer Saturday was 12-year-old Jimmy Hague, who raced to the top in 32:54. In all, 34 racers took part.

Time improvements over last year: Patty Puz of Ketchum 4:13; John Straka of Ketchum and Kris Walker of Pocatello 3:31; Herberth Corrales of Hailey 3:24; Mike Wrobel of Ketchum 1:44; and Robert McGovern of Cubbuck 0:59. Sponsors of the Spring Time Trial Series include Trinity Springs water, Lehman Brothers and Durance Cycleworks.
