Wolverine runners qualify for
state
The Wood River girls track team
kicked off the 3A District meet with a bang at ISDB in Gooding
Wednesday.
The Wolverines were sitting in
first place after the opening day. Rachel Richards and Lindsey Niedrich
went one-two in the 3200m to earn berths in the 3A State meet in Boise
later this month.
Casey Fahey was runner-up in the
long jump and Jessica King claimed second in the shotput. Syringa Stark
was third in the high jump.
Alex Hamlin is also bound for
Boise after a first-place finish in the boys’ 3200.
The six-team meet wrapped up
Thursday.
In the 1A Fourth District meet at
Twin Falls, the Raft River boys and girls opened strong, but the Carey
girls trailed the Trojans by just two points.
The Panthers picked up points with
a second-place finish in the medley relay. Kiri Adamson finished fourth
in the triple jump.
