Cutthroat reels in state berth
Community School finishes fifth
in district golf meet
The Community School golf team
saved the best for last.
In the seven-team 2A district meet
at Twin Falls Municipal Tuesday, the Cutthroats claimed fifth place with
a 356, their lowest score of the season by six strokes.

"It was our best outing yet,"
coach Harry Weekes remarked. "I thought the team played pretty well and
the kids were happy with it."
Freshmen Christian Cairncross tied
for sixth place with an 80 and qualified for the 1A/2A state meet in
Orofino, Idaho May 17-18.
"He felt pretty good going
through," Weekes said.
The medalist was Kevin Oden of
Wendell with a six-over par 74. Teammate Jysen Lancaster and Chris Laib
of Glenns Ferry both shot 76 to tie for second place. Trojan Jessie
Lancaster won the girls’ title with an 81.
The top three boys’ teams were
Wendell (312), Glenns Ferry (320) and Magic Valley Christian (340) and
all punched tickets to the state tilt. The top two girls’ squads were
Glenns Ferry (408) and Valley (474).
Also teeing it up for the
Cutthroats were Reed Boeger (80), Regan O’Reilly (90), Bobby Peterson
(98), Bobby Flanigan (108) and Rachael Becker (144).
"It has been a wonderful season
because everyone is still having fun. People are getting better and
better and that is exciting," Weekes said.
