Carnduff says enough
Coach steps down from Wood
River hoops team

Calling it an extremely difficult
decision, Wood River basketball coach Brent Carnduff resigned Tuesday.
Carnduff, head coach of the girls’
varsity team for the last four seasons, handed in his letter of
resignation to athletic director Ron Martinez and also spoke with team
members. He cited personal reasons for stepping down.
Currently the Physical Education
teacher at Hemingway Elementary, Carnduff said he will take next season
off to recharge his batteries and strike a balance between work and
family life, but would love to return to coaching some day.
But right now he needs rest and
relaxation a little more than pick and rolls.
"It was my eighth season with Wood
River and I have loved it," Carnduff said. "I will miss the girls a
lot."
Carnduff (58-34) hit a high note
before turning in his whistle, guiding the Wolverines to their first
SCIC district title in 24 years and their first-ever trip to the state
tournament in 2004.
WRHS athletic director Ron
Martinez said ideally the coaching vacancy would be filled before the
end of the school year, but most likely the search will run into June.
Martinez suggested some current
teachers and coaches whom he thought would be suitable candidates,
including Tim Richards, J.C. Nemecek, Jennifer Boatwright, Jim
Boatwright and John Radford.
"One of those might work out for
us," Martinez remarked.
Interested parties may submit
their resume and job application to the Blaine County School District
office in Hailey.
