"Athlete of the Month"

Hailey’s Lauren Drew, 19, has been named "Athlete of the Month" at Scripps College in southern California for her achievements on the Athenas tennis team this spring.

Head coach Maxanne Retzlaff said, "Lauren is our #1 singles and doubles player. She is currently ranked first in the region in doubles and sixth in singles. She is a tremendous asset to our team."

Drew’s effort helped CMS (Claremont-McKenna/Harvey Mudd/Scripps) Athenas tennis team to the SCIAC league championship this past weekend. She was named first-team all-conference for the season.

Scripps College will host the regional tournament in two weeks.

Drew, a 2002 Community School graduate, is a sophomore majoring in art at the four-year Division III college located east of Los Angeles.

She was a four-time Idaho Class 3A state girls’ singles champion from 1999-2002. Drew was 15-0 and dropped only 19 games in her streak of four state singles championships.
