sign-ups coming up
Rec District programs in April
With the ball fields clearing and
the month of April just about here, it’s time to think about youth
baseball and softball programs offered by the Blaine County Recreation
District.
The programs, which run from May
10-July 8 including practices and games, are designed for boys and girls
ages 5-13. All kids play within their age bracket. Fees are $42.50 (late
fee $53). All players receive a shirt and hat. Pants are optional.
Offered are girls’ fast-pitch
softball ages 11-13 and 8-10; Little League baseball ages 11-12 and
9-10; coed baseball with pitching by coaches for ages 7-8; and t-ball
baseball for 5-6.
Games will be played weekday
evenings plus occasional Saturdays in Hailey and Ketchum.
Registration evenings are
Wednesday, April 21 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the Hailey Elementary School
multi-purpose room, and Thursday, April 22 from 6-7 p.m. in the foyer of
Hemingway Elementary School, Ketchum.

Here are other details:
T-ball season starts June 1
and runs for four weeks, with games on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
7-8 Coed Baseball games go
from June 2-July 7, Mondays and Wednesdays.
9-10 Baseball and 8-10 Softball
games begin June 1 and end July 8, games on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
11-12 Baseball and 11-13
Fastpitch Softball games start June 2 and end July 7, games Mondays
and Wednesdays.
Player evaluations (for
ages 7-and-older): Will be held Monday through Thursday, May 3-6 at
Atkinson Park in Ketchum and Nelson Field, Hailey. These evaluations are
done to ensure fairly-balanced teams.
Opening Day: Is Saturday,
May 22 at 9 a.m. at Nelson Field in Hailey. Uniform pants will be sold
at the field, and the local Pepsi Pitch/Hit/Run competition will be
staged.
Coaching and umpiring: If
you wish to coach or umpire this season, sign up on the registration
form or call Eric Anderson at the Rec District.
Financial aid: Is
available, through the scholarship program sponsored by the Ketchum/Sun
Valley Rotary Club.
