Ketchum resident Ben Worst was
appointed as the new city attorney in a unanimous vote Monday, April 5,
by City Council members.
Worst was nominated by Ketchum
Mayor Ed Simon after an extensive search for a replacement for Margaret
Simms, who resigned from the city attorney post on March 19.
Simms had served as the city
attorney since August 1997. Worst, 36, for the last year has maintained
an independent law practice in Ketchum. He specializes in real-estate
law, business law and general litigation.
He previously worked in a shared
practice in Ketchum.
"I’m quite honored to be selected
because all the other candidates were highly qualified," Worst said.
Worst will start working for the
city on April 15.
Worst said he is looking forward
to assisting the city in reviewing anticipated applications to develop
the River Run base area of Bald Mountain, Warm Springs Ranch, and the
Simplot lot, across from the Ketchum Post Office.
"The main challenge is going to be
helping the City Council with those three projects," he said.
