Ski Town women
return Friday

For weekend hockey tourney

The Sun Valley Sunsets and two other Sun Valley women’s hockey teams will take the ice this coming weekend for the 2004 Ski Town Classic tournament featuring 11 teams.

A total 21 games are planned during the eighth annual tournament. Games run from 6-11 p.m. Friday, from 7:50 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Sun Valley Skating Center.

Each team plays three games within its division to determine which teams advance to Sunday’s consolation and championship games.

In the "A Flight" are the Sunsets along with Seattle, Boise Blades, Express 24 Lady Blues, Jackson Hole A and Mt. Powder Hounds. In the "B Flight" are Sun Valley Fury and Sun Valley Fury II, Redwood City, Boise Hericanes and Jackson Hole B.

Last March, the Salt Lake Black Diamonds defeated the Sunsets 4-1 for the "A Flight" title, while the Wasatch Wings beat Boise Hericanes 5-1 in the "B Flight" finale.

Spectators are welcome to turn out and support the players this weekend. Here are the game times for the local teams in the tourney:

Friday, March 19: At 6 p.m., SV Fury vs. Redwood City Lady Polars. At 7:10 p.m., SV Sunsets vs. Seattle. At 8:30 p.m., SV Fury II vs. Boise Hericanes.

Saturday, March 20: At 10:10 a.m., SV Sunsets vs. Express 24. At 11:20 a.m., SV Fury vs. Boise Hericanes. At 4 p.m., SV Fury II vs. Jackson Hole B. At 6:30 p.m., SV Sunsets vs. Mt. Powder Hounds. At 7:40 p.m., SV Fury vs. Jackson Hole B.

Sunday, March 21: At 8 a.m., SV Fury II vs. Redwood City. At 9:10 a.m., "B Flight" consolation game. At 10:20 a.m., "A Flight" consolation game. At 11:30 a.m., "B Flight" championship game. At 12:40 p.m., "A Flight" championship game.
