Alpine series heads for the homestretch

Swapping spots like sixties swingers, the team standings in the Town Alpine Series were all shook up after Wednesday’s race on Baldy.

Carrera/Atomic with Matt Murphy, Matt McNeal, Sean Murphy and Wally Rothgeb moved into first place. The quartet all posted top-40 finishes on Wednesday, led by Matt Murphy’s fourth.

Idaho Tower and the Rainbow Warriors are currently second and third in the team standings. Ski Tek’s Atomic Bums and the South Slope Sliders round out the top five.

Carl Rixon was the only racer to complete the course in less than 27 seconds Wednesday and he did it not once, but twice, to top the individual standings. Olin Glenne was second and Robin Sarchett third.

Back in the pack after a week off, Eltina Campbell won the women’s race and finished in 15th overall. Sonja Mandeville was the second woman and 17th overall. Annie Stout finished third.

The remaining two parties will be at the Out of Bounds Lounge on March 10 and Apples Bar & Grill on March 17.
