Idaho tourism
conference set for
May in Twin Falls

By GREGORY FOLEY
Express Staff Writer

The Idaho Travel Council, an eight-member private-sector advisory board for tourism development activities of the Idaho Department of Commerce, will convene May 4 and 5 in Twin Falls.

In an associated event, the Department of Commerce from May 5 to 7 will sponsor the annual Governorís Conference on Recreation and Tourism.

Both events will be held at the Twin Falls campus of the College of Southern Idaho.

The Idaho Travel Council advises the Department of Commerce on matters related to the travel and convention industries and oversees a grant program to promote tourism.

Council representatives are associates of private-sector businesses. Seven members are appointed by the governor to represent designated travel regions in the state, while one member serves in an "at-large" capacity.

Brent Gillette, senior sales executive for Sun Valley Co., is the council representative for central Idaho.

The annual Governorís Conference on Recreation and Tourism is designed to assist Idaho lodging property owners and managers, outfitters and guides, campground owners and other tourism-industry professionals.

For details, visit www.idoc.state.id.us, or call the Department of Commerce at (208) 334-2470.
