Sun Valley hosts
state hockey

For eight teams, starting today

Coming off its huge tournament victory in Utah over Presidents’ Day weekend, the Sun Valley Midget high school hockey team is gearing up for another big effort.

Sun Valley is hosting the Idaho Amateur Hockey Association High School State Championship tournament Friday through Sunday, Feb. 20-22. Eight teams are expected.

Besides Sun Valley, plans call for three teams from Idaho Falls, two from Boise, one from Salmon and one from Moscow. Games start tonight and continue through Sunday, Feb. 22.

The Wood River Midgets open Friday with a 5:15 p.m. game against Eagle, then play at noon Saturday against Hillcrest of Idaho Falls. A "Senior Salute," to the Wood River senior players at 7:30 p.m. will precede Saturday’s 7:45 p.m. game between Wood River and Skyline of Idaho Falls.

Semi-finals begin Sunday at 7:45 a.m. and the championship game is Sunday about 2 p.m.
